AMHERST, N.Y. — History was made on Tuesday. And more could be in store for Friday.
For the first time in 41 years, the University of Toledo men’s basketball team has won consecutive Mid-American Conference championships.
In a 92-76 victory at Buffalo’s Alumni Arena, the Rockets used a firing-on-all-cylinders offense and a hounding defense to fluster the Bulls and prevent them from ever finding a comfort zone.
“I thought we played a complete game for 40 minutes,” Toledo coach Tod Kowalczyk said.
On the same court earlier in the afternoon, antagonistic Toledo guard Ra’Heim Moss declared, “It’s going to be a long night for Buffalo,” during UT’s shootaround.
