For the ninth time in program history, Toledo’s women’s basketball team will be competing in the NCAA tournament.
The Rockets, who beat rival Bowling Green 73-58 in Saturday’s Mid-American Conference championship, earned the league’s automatic bid. Toledo, which was a regular in the NCAA tournament in the 1990s, is playing in the Big Dance for the second time in head coach Tricia Cullop’s tenure (2017).
Toledo is 3-8 all-time in the NCAA tournament and will be looking for its first win in 27 years.
1991
Toledo, which earned the No. 11 seed in the East Regional, jumped out to a 43-28 lead over Rutgers in the first-round game and cruised to an 83-65 victory.
