Grant Umberger Signs Professional Contract with Chicago White Sox

TOLEDO, Ohio – Former Toledo baseball pitcher Grant Umberger has signed a professional contract with the Chicago White Sox, signing with the club on a minor- league deal with a spring training invite.

In 2024, Umberger was named First-Team All-MAC after registering a 3.81 ERA in 15 games, the lowest ERA in the MAC. Umberger pitched 75.2 innings and struck out 80 batters, including 26 looking. Opponents batted just .243 against Umberger, which was the fourth-lowest in the league.

The Chester Springs, Pa. native had several strong outings in his lone season as a Rocket, including on April 13 when he tossed six shutout innings and allowed just four hits with nine strikeouts in a win against Kent State.
