Geoff Lanier knew where he wanted to work and who he wanted as a boss: Monmouth coach Ginny Boggess.
In the spring of 2022, legendary Rutgers coach C. Vivian Stringer retired, leaving Lanier unemployed. He was unaware that the Monmouth job was open, but when he saw Boggess on the road recruiting, he had a brief message for her.
“If you ever have another job open,” Lanier said, “I need to be the first person you call.”
In the summer of 2023, he heard a position had opened at Monmouth.
“I took a screenshot of it, and I texted to her: I’m waiting for my call,” Lanier said.
