For only the second time in the Tod Kowalczyk era, the Toledo Rockets are 4-0 in the Mid-American Conference.
And again, during a season in which UT’s defense has been suspect, the Rockets came up big on that end of the floor when called upon, carrying the team down the stretch in a 77-72 victory over Ball State.
Ball State was 23 of 41 and in control of the game with a six-point lead when the Rockets surged ahead by seven, thanks to a 15-2 run, fueled by stifling defense that came out of nowhere.
The Cardinals (8-8, 0-4) had a 1 for 5 stretch where it only attempted five shots in a nearly seven-minute span.
