KALAMAZOO, Mich. — The first game of the Mid-American Conference schedule was more of the same for the Toledo Rockets.
Not a recent spate of losing — the four years of dominance over the rest of the conference.
UT entered Saturday with a three-game losing streak and five losses in its past six games. The Rockets left University Arena with a 76-70 win over Western Michigan and a 1-0 record in the MAC.
Neither team shot 40 percent in the 40-minute rockfight.
On the day Toledo had one of its best defensive performances of the season, it struggled at the other end of the court.
