Where Toledo’s points would come from was a popular offseason water cooler conversation.
Without RayJ Dennis, Setric Millner, Jr., and JT Shumate — the Rockets’ three leading scorers last season — there was trepidation amongst the fan base about UT’s ability to put the basketball in the hoop.
Those fears were extinguished on Monday in a season-opening 94-60 thrashing of Detroit Mercy at Savage Arena that saw all 11 Toledo players score.
Four different Toledo players scored in the first four minutes. A fifth scored less than six minutes into the game. By halftime, 10 Rockets had scored and they had a 51-35 halftime lead.
