YPSILANTI, Mich. — Committing multiple turnovers with a second-string quarterback isn’t a recipe for winning on the road.
But Tucker Gleason didn’t play like a typical backup. And it was never more evident than on a season-defining 12-play, 74-yard drive as the clock wound down in the fourth quarter.
Gleason delivered a 36-yard strike to Devin Maddox on fourth-and-10 from the Eastern Michigan 39-yard line, and then connected with Lenny Kuhl on a 2-yard pass for the game-winning points in a thrilling 27-24 come-from-behind victory over Eastern Michigan.
“These are the moments you always talk about in the quarterback room,” Toledo coach Jason Candle said.
