When it comes to position battles on the University of Toledo football team, coach Jason Candle likes to keep an open mind; for example, an underclassman shouldn’t automatically be on the second or third team.
One of the biggest benefactors of this philosophy in recent years is the Rockets’ returning left guard Nick Rosi, who is entering his redshirt sophomore season.
“If we had that thought process at left guard, Nick probably wouldn’t be here,” Candle said. “He probably would have transferred and gone somewhere else.”
“If I’m the best player, I would expect my coaches to put me in the game.
