Former Head Coach Chuck Stobart Passes Away at 90

TOLEDO, Ohio – Former Toledo head football coach Chuck Stobart passed away earlier this week at the age of 90.

A 2012 Varsity T Hall of Fame inductee, Stobart was the Rockets' head football coach from 1977-81, rebuilding Toledo into one of the premier programs in the Mid-American Conference. He earned MAC Coach of the Year honors in 1979 and 1981, leading Toledo to a 9-3 record and a MAC Championship in his final season. In his last game as head coach, he led Toledo to a memorable 27-25 victory over San Jose State in the California Bowl that was decided on a last-second field goal by Tony Lee

Stobart left UT to become the head coach at Utah from 1982-84.
