FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Toledo baseball team scored five runs in the top of the eighth inning to come back and defeat Purdue Fort Wayne, 9-8, in non-conference action on Tuesday.
Trailing 8-4 entering the penultimate inning, the Rockets (14-13) scored five runs with two outs to come back and defeat the Mastodons. The first run of the inning scored on a wild pitch and then sophomore Owen Jackson launched a two-run homer over the fence in right field to make it a one-run game. Freshman Wesley Parker, making his first start of the season, singled in the tying run and junior Scott Mackiewicz drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home the go-ahead run.
