Toledo will embark on its second trip to the Bahamas under coach Jason Candle in search of the program’s first bowl win since Candle’s debut game in the 2015 Boca Raton Bowl.
Standing in their way is Middle Tennessee State, a team that scored 24 unanswered points in its regular-season finale to reach bowl eligibility. The Blue Raiders (6-6) made headlines in November for spurning the Mid-American Conference, which was exploring adding Middle Tennessee and Western Kentucky.
The Rockets (7-5) and MTSU kick off at noon Dec. 17 in Nassau. UT lost 35-32 to Florida International in the 2018 Bahamas Bowl.
