DURHAM, N.C. — The University of Toledo women’s basketball team found itself down almost from the get-go against Duke on Wednesday, never had the lead, and fell 70-45 in a nonconference game.
It’s Toledo’s first loss in just over a month after winning the past five.
For the first 20 minutes in the contest, however, UT looked as if it might get to its sixth straight win, especially after it trimmed Duke’s lead down to five when Khera Goss stole the inbound and scored to make it 30-25 with 1:38 left in the first half.
Unfortunately for the Rockets, that was as close as it would get as the Blue Devils fired on all cylinders to start the third quarter, going on a 13-2 run to start the second half and finishing the third quarter with a 21-6 run to make it 53-31.
