Defensive woes lead to defeat for UT men's basketball

YOUNGSTOWN — The University of Toledo’s defensive woes continued Saturday.

The Rockets (6-5) lost 93-87 at Youngstown State, allowing the Penguins to shoot nearly 50 percent and made 12 3-pointers.

Youngstown State (6-5) was led by Toledo transfer EJ Farmer, who scored 20 points on 8-of-15 shooting.

This is UT’s third consecutive loss to a Division I school. They have lost three of the last four.

The Rockets led for less than two minutes against a Youngstown State team that lost to Presbyterian College by 25 points on Nov. 22.

Sam Lewis scored a game-high 21 points on 7-of-14 shooting with eight rebounds for the Rockets, while Sonny Wilson had 17 points, grabbed six boards, and dished out four assists.
