One of the most successful senior classes in University of Toledo program history has a chance to add one more accomplishment to its resume when the Rockets take on Appalachian State on Saturday in the Dollar General Bowl in Mobile, Ala.
With a win over Appalachian State, Toledo would reach 12 wins in a season for just the third time in the 100 years of Rockets football, a mark previously reached only by the undefeated teams of 1970 and 1971.
“I could sit here and go on for days about what [this senior class] has been able to accomplish here: four wins over the team down south in their career, a lot of individual accolades, won a conference championship, undefeated at the Glass Bowl as seniors, bowl eligible every year that they’ve been here, just a lot of things that they’ve been able to do,” UT coach Jason Candle said.
