TOLEDO, Ohio – Toledo freshman Cassie Alcala has been named Mid-American Conference Singles Player of the Week, the league office announced Wednesday. This is the third time this season the Pickerington, Ohio native has been named the league's top weekly singles player.
Alcala won both of her singles matches over the weekend, helping the Rockets defeat Northern Illinois on the road and Miami at home. Alcala started off by winning her singles match against NIU's Maria Potsi on Friday (6-3, 4-6, 10-7) before defeating the reigning MAC Player of the Year Brindtha Ramasamy from Miami on Sunday (6-4, 6-2).
