After needing double-digit comebacks to knock off Marshall and Northern Kentucky in its first two home games of the season, Toledo women’s basketball had a less stressful time Friday against Long Beach State.
The Rockets never trailed after the first quarter in a 79-72 victory, leading by as many as 16 points in the third quarter before the visitors closed the gap in the fourth. Kendall Carruthers scored a game-high 19 points as Toledo (3-0) remained unbeaten at Savage Arena under new coach Ginny Boggess.
Long Beach State did get out to an early 12-3 lead, but Toledo closed the first quarter on a 13-3 run and remained in front for the rest of the night.
