The Mountain West Conference on Thursday informed the Mid-American Conference of its interest in adding Toledo and Northern Illinois as football-only members.
Toledo (elevation: 604 feet) and DeKalb, Ill. (879 feet) — widely known as two of the great mountain towns of the Old West — could join its neighbors in a league that otherwise includes schools from California, Colorado, Nevada, New Mexico, and Wyoming.
