KENT, Ohio — The Toledo men’s basketball team lost more than a game Tuesday night at Kent State.
It also lost the benefit of the doubt.
If there was hope the Rockets would put it all together after an uneven nonconference season and hit the ground sprinting in pursuit of another Mid-American Conference championship, their 75-63 loss at the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center offered something of a reality check.
In the early showdown of the MAC season — a matchup of the two-time reigning league regular-season champions and the conference frontrunners this year — Kent State proved there’s a new class of the league.
