Another year, another sham.
The College Football Hall of Fame last week announced its 2021 class, and, once more, it featured an unsurprising but shameful omission.
There was no Chuck Ealey.
As the University of Toledo prepares to celebrate the 50th anniversary of one of the greatest winning streaks in sports history — a never-to-be-repeated 35-0 run from 1969-71 — the pioneering star of that golden era remains non grata, denied enshrinement because of an arbitrary and antiquated rule that is applied to some but not others.
I would suggest the Hall is full of hot air, but it might be flattered.
