INDIANAPOLIS — After meteoring on to the national scene with an All-American junior season, Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell had his pick of opportunities to follow the money to a bigger school.
Why did he not indulge the temptation?
The coaches and general managers here at the NFL scouting combine wanted to know.
“That came up in every meeting,” Mitchell said. “‘Why did you stay at Toledo?’”
To which he replied … why not?
“I had a great situation,” he said.
And so Mitchell enjoyed his cake and ate it, too.
The Rockets star remained right where he wanted to be — with the teammates and coaches that felt like family — and is now headed exactly where he dreamed.
