Big defensive stops lift Toledo men's basketball past Buffalo

AMHERST, N.Y. — The University of Toledo has one of the most efficient offenses in the country.

But in an 86-77 victory at the University of Buffalo on Friday night, the Rockets defense made several crucial stops late in the second half, holding the Bulls scoreless for nearly three minutes and forcing multiple turnovers.

“That was the game right there," junior guard RayJ Dennis said. "We had to get stops, and we were able to get them. It gave us a cushion.”

There were nine ties and seven lead changes, with Toledo in control most of the first half and Buffalo keeping UT on its heels throughout the second half.
