Kissimmee, Fla.— Toledo ended its season-opening trip to Florida on a high note, soundly defeating Saint Louis, 16-8, on Sunday afternoon.
The Rockets tallied 17 hits against the Billikens in a contest highlighted by a nine-run eighth inning. UT batted around twice and drew nine walks in the big win.
Senior AJ Montoya was 4-for-5 with a game-high five RBIs. Freshman Trace Hatfield and junior Ross Adolph provided the big hits for Toledo. Hatfield smoked a bases-clearing double to left-center field in the eighth inning and Adolph smacked a three-run home run to right field in the fifth.
