TUCSON — Toledo’s near historic season came to a painful conclusion.
The Rockets were a few first downs or a few defensive stops from a program-record-tying 12th win, but Wyoming backup quarterback Evan Svoboda engineered a game-winning field goal in the final minutes of Saturday’s Arizona Bowl.
John Hoyland made a 24-yard kick as time expired, sending Wyoming coach Craig Bohl into retirement a winner.
“[Wyoming] made some tough plays in the second half that were needed to win that football game,” Toledo coach Jason Candle said. “I’m disappointed we came up short. Disappointed because we had a great week out here.
