Akron defense looks to slow down UT's powerful offense

After allowing 48 points to Toledo in the previous meetings between the teams, Akron coach Terry Bowden said the Zips will have to limit the damage done by the Rockets offense early in the Mid-American Conference championship game on Saturday at Ford Field.

Akron got behind schedule quickly in the first meeting as Toledo’s Logan Woodside threw three first-quarter touchdowns and were forced to play catch-up for the rest of the game.

The Akron defense will have to find a way to slow down a Toledo offense that produced six different first-team All-MAC performers.

Akron has plenty of talent on the defensive end as the Zips were fourth in the MAC in scoring defense 24.
