KENT, Ohio — The final shot of the third quarter during Saturday’s Toledo-Kent State women’s basketball game was a three-quarter-court heave by Quinesha Lockett.
The way her day was going, most people in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center probably thought it would go in. It didn’t, falling harmlessly to the ground, with Toledo leading 58-44.
Jessica Cook raced out on the floor to embrace Lockett, who had just scored 15 of UT’s 26 third-quarter points as the Rockets took control of the game. One week after blowing a 17-point fourth-quarter lead at Northern Illinois, Toledo had an opportunity at some redemption and self-assurance.
