On the opening drive of the University of Toledo football team’s 2004 Mid-American Conference title game against Miami, former UT receiver Lance Moore expected to be hauling in passes from star quarterback Bruce Gradkowski.
He didn’t expect to be playing doctor.
On a quarterback scramble, Gradkowski’s left shoulder was slammed into the ground resulting in a dislocation. Before a team physician had a chance to pop the shoulder back into place, Gradkowski turned to his star receiver for help.
“I remember when he hurt his shoulder like it was yesterday,” Moore said. “He was standing back behind the line of scrimmage and kind of wincing and talking about his shoulder.
