Don’t tell the Toledo Rockets that Tuesday’s game was irrelevant.
Head coach Jason Candle was as dejected as he’s ever been after a loss. Senior linebacker Dyontae Johnson was devastated, wearing a sorrowful expression on his face. Edge rusher Jamal Hines crouched down on the Glass Bowl turf in despair.
Tuesday’s loss to Bowling Green isn’t going to impact Toledo’s standing in the Mid-American Conference since it already clinched a championship game appearance, but the sting will linger.
“I’m disappointed in the outcome of the football game,” Candle said.
Now the Rockets have a quasi-off week before closing the regular season at Western Michigan on Black Friday.
