The University of Toledo’s transition year ended with a bang.
Yes, there were lowlights — a bitter home loss to Bowling Green and a whimper to end the regular season (losses to Ohio and Akron). But an 8-5 record, with wins over Mississippi State and Pittsburgh, wasn’t all bad.
Entering the 2024 season, the expectations were high for the Rockets, who had made consecutive Mid-American Conference championship game appearances. UT returned several productive veterans, but with an overhauled offensive line and a dearth of game-breaking running backs, the offense couldn’t establish consistency game-to-game.
