John Rothstein of CBS Sports has reported that Texas Tech freshman Zhaire Smith will hire an agent and remain in the NBA Draft. Smith originally declared for the draft without the hiring of an agent, leaving the door open for a possibility to Tech. With the hiring, Smith is now unable to return to the program and will have to stay in the draft.

In his lone season with the Red Raiders, Smith averaged 11.
