TULSA, Okla. -- The Texas Tech defensive game plan was sophisticated and subtle.
The application and end result was anything but.
Tech did what it does best in throttling Buffalo's offense in a 78-58 second-round NCAA win, advancing to the Sweet 16 for the second consecutive season.
"They out-toughed us," Buffalo senior forward Nick Perkins said. "Give credit to them."
Third-seeded Tech (28-6), the last team standing from the Big 12, will face second-seeded Michigan (30-6) Thursday in Anaheim for the West Region. The Red Raiders have lost just one of their last 12 games and won their two NCAA games by a combined 35 points.
