Gil Roberts rivals Kliff Kingsbury in the category of contemporary Texas Tech sports figure most likely to make women swoon. I started to say “must be runner-up to ... ,” but do a Twitter search and get back to me.
Anytime Roberts runs on TV, most recently at the Olympics, admiring females run to their keyboards. Heck, even Lolo Jones, a renowned track athlete herself, joined in with this Tweet: “Gil Roberts ran with his chest zipper down on his uniform and thank you.”
That’s way more understated than most of the admirers.
Just as frequent and just as intense are remarks, mostly from guys, imploring Roberts to remove all the gold necklaces he sports while running.
