IRVING - Chris Beard has spent basically seven weeks trying to treat this last Texas Tech basketball season just like all the other ones he coached.
"It's similar to every season," said Beard about the trip to the NCAA national championship game, losing to Virginia in overtime. "You celebrate the success and you look forward to the next season."
Then, like a lot of conversations with Beard, he volunteered something beyond coachspeak.
"I think I may have screwed myself over the years," Beard said after the first day of Big 12 spring meetings in Irving. "I always talked about trying to get to that Monday night game.
