Warrant: Former Texas Tech football player admits to burglary, firearm theft

One of three former Texas Tech football players released from the team earlier this month reportedly admitted to police he and two others broke into a Southwest Lubbock home and stole a safe full of guns, according to an arrest warrant released Tuesday.

Lubbock police arrested Robert Castaneda, 20, on Friday in connection with a home burglary reported in January. He was booked on a second-degree felony burglary charge into the Lubbock County Detention Center, where he was released the same day. His bond was set at $5,000. Second degree felonies carry a punishment of two to 20 years in prison.
