On Monday, the day before the team flew to Austin, coach Beard had his usual meeting with the media, and it was a long and intense one, as there were many important topics that had to be addressed.
First of all, he talked about the Longhorns, that will suffer the absence of Andrew Jones, who was diagnosed with leukemia last week, and Kerwin Roach, who’s under evaluation for a hand injury. The coach knows Texas has many other weapons, and that life in the Big 12 is difficult for everyone.
After this, he also praised two of his players, maybe not the expected ones, as he eulogized Josh Webster, who only played six minutes against the Mountaineers but is expected to see his role increased, and Niem Stevenson, who’s having offensive troubles to which he responds with quality defense.
