Texas Tech has become a revolving door for defensive coordinators. Since 2007, Tech has employed eight of them.
All those changes have taken a toll on the Red Raiders, as they’ve annually ranked among the worst defenses in the Big 12. Last year, Texas Tech ranked 123rd nationally out of 129 teams while allowing 41.3 points per game.
David Gibbs hopes he can change that trend.
After coaching a top 20 defense at the University of Houston last season, Gibbs made the jump to Texas Tech in January.
