Texas Tech running backs coach Mike Jinks might want to post a sticky note somewhere near his desk as a reminder: Don’t forget Justin Stockton.
The speedy sophomore’s averaging eight touches per game through the Red Raiders’ first five games. On the other hand, he’s doing something with those chances.
Stockton scored a touchdown in each of the first four games. And in each of the last four games, he’s made a play for more than 20 yards. Three of those big plays were pass receptions, each on a different route: a 46-yard touchdown on a screen pass against Texas-El Paso, a 50-yard touchdown on a cross-field throwback pass against TCU and a 34-yard gain on a wheel route against Baylor.
