Injuries have gotten in the way of Austin's career at Texas Tech. He missed both the 2017 and 2016 seasons due to injuries and has been unable to produce. The only season he has played in was the 2015 season, finishing with 238 yards and one touchdown. Austin's first career catch was a 55 yard touchdown pass from Patrick Mahomes II.
The wide receiver position needs production. Keke Coutee, Dylan Cantrell and Cameron Batson are no longer with the program and they were the main receiving core.
