Coutee improved in his sophomore season, going from 11 receptions as a freshman to 55 catches in 2016. He totaled seven touchdown receptions and rushed for one, occasionally making highlight-reel plays. Coutee also had an impressive outing in Tech's final game of the season, catching the attention of another former Lufkin star: Dallas Cowboys receiver Dez Bryant.

Steele was a two-star commit out of high school and redshirted in 2015.
