FRISCO -- There still isn't much clarity to the winner of Texas Tech's three-pronged quarterback battle. Even head coach Kliff Kingsbury doesn't know who it's going to be.
Or so he claimed Monday during Big 12 Media Days.
"This is the first fall camp I don't know who it's going to be, so working with the quarterbacks, it's exciting," said Kingsbury, who is entering his sixth season leading his alma mater. "It's a challenge and we're fired up to see who steps up during the competition and separates themselves."
Kingsbury has used similar lines before the season in the past during quarterback competitions between Davis Webb and Patrick Mahomes, both of whom impressed -- but had question marks -- during 2014 before Mahomes won the job in 2015 and was an eventual first-round pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
