Texas Tech quarterback Patrick Mahomes II has an AC joint sprain in the shoulder of his throwing arm, two sources told A-J Media on Friday.
The timetable for his return is uncertain, but the injury might not be as serious as some feared when Mahomes got hurt in the third quarter of Tech’s 55-19 home victory Thursday against Kansas. One medical professional who treats athletes but doesn’t deal directly with Mahomes said a player with a mild sprain in the AC joint might return in one or two weeks, but said Mahomes being a quarterback who throws the football a lot complicates the picture.
