The third installment may not have been as good as the sequel two months ago, but the Texas Tech baseball team still provided some early drama before coming away with smiles Friday against New Mexico State in the NCAA Lubbock Regional opener.
With two outs and an 0-2 count, Red Raider left fielder Grant Little battled his way back to a 2-2 count, and fouling off three pitches, before hitting an RBI double to left-center field in the bottom of the first inning. Teammate Zach Rheams hit a two-run home run in the next at bat to put things at 3-0 and rile up a sun-drenched home crowd at Dan Law Field at Rip Griffin Park.
