Texas Tech offensive lineman, former Mesquite Horn standout Conner Dyer giving up football

On Sunday, Texas Tech redshirt freshman offensive lineman Conner Dyer announced he is giving up his football career because of repeated injuries.

Dyer made the announcement via Twitter.

Dyer sat out his first two seasons with knee injuries.

Dyer -- a former four-star recruit out of Mesquite Horn -- was one of six offensive lineman signed in 2015. Three are still on the team, Terence Steele, Paul Stawarz and Madison Akamnonu, who have seen the field this season.

The other three were Trace Ellison, Cody Wheeler and Dyer. Ellison was kicked off the team in the spring.
