Texas Tech received some bad, but not all together unexpected, news on Tuesday when head coach Kliff Kingsbury confirmed that starting offensive lineman Justin Murphy will miss the remainder of the 2015 season with a knee injury.
Until last Saturday’s game versus Iowa State the redshirt freshman from Belton, Texas had started every game at left guard (except for the season opener when senior Tony Morales got the starting nod). But in week 5, Murphy was carted off the field during Texas Tech’s loss to Baylor.
Morales struggled in relief of Murphy being called for numerous penalties on the afternoon while trying to block Baylor’s All-Conference defensive tackle Andrew Billings.
