It was hard to decipher whether the Texas Tech students or the Texas Tech football team was more hungover to begin Saturday’s homecoming game against Iowa State. In front of a lifeless crowd that was officially over 52,000 but which was actually much smaller, the Red Raiders slept walked through the first quarter and a half ultimately trailing 20-0 in the middle of the second quarter en route to a 34-24 loss to drop to 3-4 overall and just 1-3 in conference play.
It appeared as if Matt Wells’ team was still drunk on self-pity following the injustice suffered last week in Waco when a botched fumble call in overtime cost the Red Raiders a shot at a victory over Baylor.
