Because of the popularity of the “Air Raid” offense, it seems like hardly a week goes by without the Texas Tech football team facing a coach on the opposing sideline who has ties to the Red Raiders. Last week, it was West Virginia head coach and former Red Raider offensive coordinator Neal Brown who was the opposition and this week’s game brings a familiar face back to Jones Stadium.
TCU offensive coordinator Sonny Cumbie, a Snyder native and the starting QB for the Red Raiders in 2004 will be returning to West Texas this weekend and if his offense continues its recent struggles, this might be his last homecoming as a member of Gary Patterson’s staff.
