Whenever a team goes just 4-8 in a season, no changes should be off the table. That’s certainly the case for the Texas Tech football team this offseason.
Thus, it would make sense for a number of players to try out some new positions during spring practice. That was what we saw quite a bit of last year in the first Matt Wells run Red Raider offseason.
For instance, Receiver Kesean Carter moved from the slot to outside receiver while Donta Thompson went from a receiver and H-back role to playing a traditional tight end. On defense, Tech moved two corners, Douglas Coleman and Adrian Frye, to safety and put Jordyn Brooks at middle linebacker after he had spent most of his career playing at outside LB while Dakota Allen manned the middle.
