Texas Tech football: 2019 QB commit Maverick McIvor tears ACL

San Angelo Central quarterback and 2019 Texas Tech football commit Maverick McIvor saw his high school football career come to an abrupt and unfortunate end Friday night. The three-star dual-threat quarterback was injured in the Bobcats’ win over Del Rio as he was tackled near the sideline in the third quarter.

McIvor was helped off the field following the play and did not return to the game. Saturday night, McIvor’s father Lashawn, took to Facebook where he broke the news that Maverick had suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament and meniscus, ending his season.

Playing QB for the first time as a junior in 2017, McIvor was terrific throwing for 3,372 yards and 43 touchdowns while also leading his team with 864 rushing yards and 8 more scores as the Bobcats went 11-1 on the season.
