WACO — Stephen Smith recorded four hits and two RBIs Sunday afternoon while Tyler Floyd drove in three runs of his own to push No. 25 Texas Tech to a 6-5 victory over Baylor at Baylor Ballpark.
The Red Raiders (12-7; 2-1) claimed the series with the victory, their first series win to open Big 12 play since traveling to Texas in 2013. Tech has now won three of the last four series against Baylor (8-11; 1-2) dating back to the 2013 season.
Tech led from the second inning on after the Red Raiders plated four runs in the frame, beginning with a two-out, bases-clearing triple by Floyd.
