Chris Beard and Director of Athletics Kirby Hocutt signed Beard's contract to become Texas Tech's men's basketball coach one day before the program's former associate head coach was introduced in front of a crowd at United Supermarkets Arena.
The five-year deal became official following a signature from interim president John Opperman less than a week later.
